John M. Cerney
John Cerney represents clients in all phases of litigation including discovery, motion-practice, settlement negotiations, trial, and post-judgment enforcement. His practice focuses on condo litigation, business oppression, post-judgment collections, and commercial litigation.
After graduating from law school, John served as a post-graduate fellow and City Prosecutor for the City of Chicago Law Department where he defended the City in tort actions and prosecuted various municipal violations. He also worked in insurance defense before joining Schwartz & Kanyock, LLC.
Prior to attending law school, John taught English as a foreign language in Saudi Arabia and Oman. He volunteers with an organization that provides outreach to at-risk youth through the sport of lacrosse. He is also passionate about endurance sports, having completed multiple triathlons including the 2017 Boulder Ironman.
